I Miss It

This is one of the places that I miss in my beloved country Philippines. When I was young my classmates and I had fun swimming this wonderful waterfall especially during Christmas and summer vacation. We called this falls as Katibawasan Falls that is located five kilometers southeast of Mambajao at the foot of Mt. Timpoong in the island of Camiguin, Philippines. The name Katibawasan is an Illonggo dialect which means “overcome” in English. This awesome falls is one of the tallest falls in our place and it measures about 250 feet which cascades to a rock pool surrounded by ground orchids, wild ferns, trees and boulders. The ice cold water provides an ideal summer splash to bathers and picnickers like me. It’s fantastic because the falls tumble down into a green pool, ideal for a refreshing swim. There are giant ferns decorated the surrounding land, carpeting for space with huge trees and dropping vines. You can enjoy eating your foods with their rock picnic tables, cute seats and cookout facilities that are available for use. This falls is considered as one of the treasured gifts nature bestowed in Camiguin Island. As of now this waterfall is maintained by the province and the visitors are expected to pay a minimal entrance fee. Even you pay a little I’m sure you really love the place and enjoy your stay.
